28” steel barrels with 2¾” chambers. Choked Improved (0.011”)
and light modified (0.013”). Barrel rib engraved “W. R. Leeson 3 Warwick
Street, Regent Street, London. W.” The action has bold open
foliate-scroll engraving with maker’s name “W. R. Leeson” engraved on
the action bar.
Note use of the Purdey patent hidden third bite extension cover by patent
397 of 1878. This design was an alternative to the more traditional Webley
Screw grip utilizing either the Dolls head or flat blade type extensions.
London proof marks and address suggest date of manufacture is between 1921
and 1925.
Well figured straight English stock, LOP is 14¾” with black
recoil pad/extension, good
chequering with dark
oil finish.
Normal splinter fore-end with Anson push-rod style release.
