Nice quality Boxlock with 28" original Siemens steel barrels, the bores being perfect. Gun nitro proofed for the first time in 2000. Top rib engraved W. R. Leeson, Ashford, Kent Siemens Steel. Right barrel choked Improved and left barrel choked 1/4.  Webley Screw Grip third bite fitted with Dolls Head extension.

14" straight hand English stock, well figured with original engraved steel butt plate, plain in-laid gold escutcheon.

Nice scroll and border engraving to both action and fences. Action engraved W. R Leeson, Patent Screw Grip. Action fitted with disk set strikers. Very slight signs of original heat treatment to action. The fore-end is fitted with the Grip forend as patented by Charles Harvey c.1866. Being a relatively early Leeson, it does not have the fine fluted (Leeson) fences that appear on many later shotguns.

Cased in its original canvas brass cornered motor case, sadly without Leeson's trade label.

The last icon displays a sale receipt dated 28th June 1940 when a previous owner purchased the gun and case from E. J. Churchill for £19 !

Gun was completely refurbished in late 2000 by the late Peter Gardner of Sherington, Buckinghamshire. The gun was a complete wreck having spent some 15 or more years in a cellar. The barrels were originally proofed for black power only. Peter made a fantastic job returning this lovely boxlock to perfect working (and looking) condition. Shoots wonderfully.

Weight:          6lbs 1¼oz

Year Made:   c.1882/3 (based on old proof marks)
