28-bore Boxlock Non-Ejector by W. R. Leeson, Serial No. 757

 

28" Nitro proofed Siemens steel barrels with 2¾" chambers and fitted with concave game rib. Choked approx. Improved and full. Rib engraved W R Leeson Ashford, Kent - Siemens Steel. Webley Screw grip third bite fitted with Dolls head extension. Original London Proof House marks indicating proof period 1887 to 1896.

The action, fitted with intercepting sears and has the Leeson  conical fences. These, like the frame and trigger guard being highly engraved with rose and scroll. The makers name W R Leeson and Patent Screw Grip engraved on the action bar. The standing breech is fitted with disk set strikers.

Gun was restocked for the current owner and measures a 14¾" length of pull. Stock is nicely figured with a straight hand English grip. Forend has snap type release.

Proof markings and rib address indicate the date of manufacture c. 1890/5 approx.
