28-bore Boxlock Non ejector by W. R. Leeson, Serial no. 1024

 

 

30" best quality Damascus barrels, choked RH True and LH ¾. Original barrel rib engraved with W. R. Leeson, Ashford, Kent.  Barrel flats carrying both original London proof marks and London Nitro Proof re-proof marks. Chambered for 2½" cartridges.

Webley Screw Grip third bite action with typical "Leeson" fences and intercepting sears. Fine Scroll and bouquet engraving with faint traces of original colour hardening. Action bar engraved W. R. Leeson - Patent Screw Grip. Fitted with Disk Set strikers. Top lever engraved with Patent.

Anson push rod forend fitting.

13⅞" Straight English nicely figured stock but repaired via pinning at the head. Inlaid gold escutcheon.

The combination of the serial number, original proof marks and the engraved address suggest this gun would have been made around 1890 -1896.
