20-bore Sidelock Ejector by W. R. Leeson, Serial no. 1027

 

 

High quality 20-bore back action Sidelock ejector with 28" steel barrels. Original flat file cut rib, makers name W. R. Leeson engraved on left barrel, makers address  Ashford, Kent. Siemens Steel engraved on  right barrel. Patent Ejector inlaid in gold of rib adjacent to third bite extension. Original London proof marks stamped showing period 1887 to 1904 but also now carries Birmingham re-proof marks (2013). Chambered for 70mm cartridges.

Action fitted with Webley Screw Grip with Dolls head third bite extension and the "Leeson" style fences. Fitted with disk set strikers and top lever with additional locking screw. Action nicely engraved with scroll and bouquet.

Anson push rod forend fitting.

14¼" straight hand English nicely figured stock inlaid with gold escutcheon.

The combination of the serial number, original proof marks and the engraved address suggest this gun would have been made around 1895.
