20-bore Boxlock Ejector by W. R. Leeson, Serial no. 1030

 

 

20-bore Boxlock ejector with 28" sleeved barrels. Curved game rib with makers name and address engraved W. R. Leeson Ashford, Kent. Original London proof marks from the 1887 to 1904 period and additional London re-proof marks. Chambered for 70mm cartridges.

Action fitted with Webley Screw Grip third bite with Dolls head extension. Fences are the conical "Leeson" style. Fitted with disk set strikers, nicely engraved with rose and scroll with border engraving. W R Leeson Patent Screw grip engraved in flying banners on action bar.

Anson push rod forend release fitting.

14¾" straight hand English nicely figured stock inlaid with gold escutcheon.

The combination of the serial number, original proof marks and the engraved address suggest this gun would have been made around c.1895.
