12-bore Boxlock ejector with 28" replacement steel barrels by B. E. Chaplin Gunmakers Limited of Winchester fitted with a concaved game rib. The barrels are choked RH ¼ and LH ¾.

Chambered for 2½" cartridges, the action has the Webley Screw Grip third bite with the Dolls Head extension. The standing breech is fitted with disc set strikers and pronounced carved styled fences. The action is fully engraved with rose and scroll and carries the makers name W. R. Leeson Patent Screw Grip appearing below action bar. Top lever spindle is fitted with additional locking pin and carrying the engraving "Patent" around its border. It is thought that the gun may originally have been made as a non-ejector and later converted using a Westley style ejectorbox mechanism. The action flats carry an Anson and Deeley's Patent number 4861 (currently researching this patent). The forend iron, trigger guard and top lever are engraved with "2" indicating the gun was one of a pair.

Anson push rod forend release.

A well figured straight hand English stock measuring 15¼", fine chequering finish.

The gun is estimated to have been made approximately 1880 / 85

Weight : 6lbs 3oz.
