12-bore Boxlock ejector
with 28"
replacement steel
barrels by B. E. Chaplin Gunmakers Limited of Winchester
fitted with a concaved game rib. The barrels are choked RH ¼
and LH ¾.
Chambered for
2½" cartridges, the action has the Webley Screw Grip
third bite with the Dolls Head extension. The standing
breech is fitted with disc set strikers and pronounced carved
styled fences. The action is fully engraved with rose and
scroll and carries the makers name W. R. Leeson
Patent Screw Grip
appearing below action bar. Top lever spindle is fitted with additional
locking pin and carrying the engraving "Patent" around its
border. It is thought that the gun may originally have been
made as a non-ejector and later converted using a Westley
style ejectorbox mechanism. The action flats carry an Anson
and Deeley's Patent number 4861 (currently researching this
patent). The forend iron, trigger guard and top lever are
engraved with "2" indicating the gun was one of a pair.
